Shudder, IFC FIlms, and RLJE Flims have had a very fruitful partnership over the years. The three of them combine to put out some of the best in independent film, particularly horror. The end of this year is shaping up to be the best that they’ve ever put out in regards to a slate. Here’s an overview of their entire Fall and Holiday 2024 slate of films.

THE BABADOOK – In Theaters Starting September 19

Six years after the violent death of her husband, Amelia (Essie Davis) is at a loss. She struggles to discipline her ‘out of control’ 6 year-old, Samuel (Noah Wiseman), a son she finds impossible to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both. 

When a disturbing storybook called ‘The Babadook’ turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. His hallucinations spiral out of control, he becomes more unpredictable and violent. Amelia, genuinely frightened by her son’s behaviour, is forced to medicate him. But when Amelia begins to see glimpses of a sinister presence all around her, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may be real. 

AZRAEL – In Theaters September 27

V/H/S/BEYOND – Streaming On Shudder October 4

The seventh installment of the V/H/S franchise will feature six new bloodcurdling tapes, placing horror at the forefront of a sci-fi-inspired hellscape.

LITTLE BITES – In Theaters October 4

Mindy, a young widow and mother, desperately tries to protect her daughter Alice from the grips of a fiendish, flesh eating monster named Agyar. Mindy has been secretly sacrificing her own life by allowing the creature to slowly feast on her body as she keeps Alice hidden away at her grandmother’s home.

DADDY’S HEAD – Streaming On Shudder October 11

Written and Directed by Benjamin Barfoot

A boy and his young, recently widowed stepmother find themselves in fear for their lives after they are visited by a strange and unexplainable creature – something that appears to mimic a horrifying version of the boy’s recently deceased father.

MADS – Streaming On Shudder October 18

Written and Directed by David Moreau

Eighteen year old Romain has just graduated and makes a stop at his dealer’s place to try a new pill. As he heads off to a party, he sees an injured woman on the side of the road and decides to help her, but when she gets in his car, she suddenly smashes her own head against the dashboard, bleeding out until she dies. Is this a bad trip? Or is it something else? One thing is for sure, it’s only the beginning of the night.

MEMOIR OF A SNAIL – In Theaters October 25

Grace Pudel is a lonely misfit with an affinity for collecting ornamental snails and an intense love for books. BLACK CAB – Streaming On Shudder November 8

When Anne and Patrick hail a black cab after a night out their driver is chatty, jovial even, but they are in no mood to talk. In fact, the couple is barely on speaking terms. That is, until they realize the driver has no intention of taking them home. Locked in the cab with no means of escape, the driver transports the couple to a stretch of deserted and supposedly haunted road. But what is his purpose? Is he mad or just plain evil? And why has he selected Anne and Patrick as his victims?

CHRISTMAS EVEN IN MILLER’S POINT – In Theaters November 8

RITA – Streaming On Shudder November 22

While fleeing a neglectful household, thirteen-year-old Rita is placed in an oppressive state-run orphanage. Rita’s arrival provides a glimmer of hope to the girls inside, who share a prophecy that an angel will appear to release them. Encouraged by one another, the girls plan an escape to claim their freedom and expose the orphanage’s abuses of power. Based on the true story behind one of Guatemala’s most harrowing tragedies, RITA shines a light on the brave orphans whose fight for survival inspired a nationwide outcry for justice and reform.

A family’s vacation to a remote getaway takes an unexpected turn when they discover the island they’re on is inhabited by a serial killer.
