Senpai is an Otokonoko episode 7, “Like That,” which has a lot happening in a single episode. Most of it is perhaps one of the most painful love confessions in anime-dom, and then along comes the best heartwarming romantic fluff. All of this happens even in the midst of an implied tragedy inbound in the next episode.

Senpai is an Otokonoko Ep. 7 “Like That”: The Good
Okay, there’s just no question about it. The story of Senpai is an Otokonoko Ep. 7 “Like That” had me on the edge of my seat for half the episode, and then the latter half was just me squealing in joy. That was just how much this episode toyed with my emotions, and I love it for that. It was essentially me going “No way, they’re going with that plot?” for pretty much the whole episode, but just in different contexts. Seriously, this is an amazing LGBTQ+ romantic comedy, with this episode being the one that goes the hardest into those themes. All thanks to Pom and his most excellent writing skills for crafting this wonderful story.
Accentuating and enhancing that amazing story is the animation. Once again, Project No.9 prove that they’re dedicated to providing quality animation in this anime. Heck, it’s even more that case in this episode. Much of it is the high quality animation they reserve for the serious moments, resulting in an episode that’s overall even better-looking than usual. Heck, I end up savoring the brief moments of chibi animation because of how much they provided a relief from the romantic drama in much of this episode. Trust me, you’ll long for it too at some point, and will likely be squealing when it does happen just as much as I did.
Senpai is an Otokonoko Ep. 7 “Like That”: The Bad
Alas, just like the entirety of this anime, Senpai is an Otokonoko Ep. 7 “Like That” might not be for fans of high-intensity action. This is not that kind of story. It’s a slice of life romcom for fans of shows to relax over. If you want an anime to satisfy your action junkie cravings, then you might want to check out Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Solo Leveling, Kaiju No. 8, and/or The Elusive Samurai. Those should have more than enough action to satisfy any junkie.
