House of the Dragon is definitely one of the most divisive TV series in modern times. On one hand, this prequel to Game of Thrones received rave reviews from both critics and audiences alike for both the first and second season. On the other hand, the show had faced quite a bit of criticism though. Mostly due to how that first season handled its depiction of violence, pacing, cinematography, and oh, did I mention violence?
Perhaps it might be those combination of criticisms that might be why George R. R. Martin is choosing to speak about House of the Dragon. You know, the guy who wrote the books this TV series is based off of? And from the looks of things, they aren’t kind words.
House of the Dragon: George R. R. Martin Opinion Details
Deadline has reported some rather fascinating news about George R. R. Martin, the author of Game of Thrones and its prequel/spin-off Fire & Blood. The latter of which forms the basis for HBO’s House of the Dragon. It seems that on Martin’s own personal blog, he has posted something very interesting. Much of the post is dedicated to a festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico dedicated to burning a giant wooden effigy called “Zozobra”. However, at the very end, Martin has seemingly revealed a bit of his thoughts regarding HBO’s live-action adaptation of his story. You can read that little relevant bit of the post below:
I do not look forward to other posts I need to write, about everything that’s gone wrong with HOUSE OF THE DRAGON… but I need to do that too, and I will. Not today, though. TODAY is Zozobra’s day, when we turn away from gloom.
What does George R. R. Martin mean by that? Alas, we don’t know. He doesn’t expand at it at all in the post. We’ll just have to wait for what he thinks of House of the Dragon at a later time.
Tune back in to THS to find out more about House of the Dragon and other HBO shows when we do.
