The Wild Robot is one of the most promising DreamWorks Animation films in a long, long while. Not least of which is this upcoming sci-fi survival film’s music. All with Oscar® winning composer Kris Bowers (Green Book) as the composer for all of that music you will hear in that film. That is, once it makes its theatrical debut, that is.
However, Bowers isn’t the only person in charge of the music. There is another: Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and music sensation Maren Morris. All mostly due to the new original song she will sing for The Wild Robot, titled “Kiss the Sky”. Don’t believe me? Then why not give that song a listen below, and hear for yourself if it’s a song you’ll head to theaters for?
The Wild Robot Original Song “Kiss the Sky”: Details
Maren Morris herself is proud to unveil her new original song for The Wild Robot: “Kiss the Sky” on YouTube. This isn’t just about the song itself though. The YouTube video also contains scenes directly from the film itself, allowing it to serve as a teaser for that upcoming DreamWorks film from director Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods). Heck, the video even shows off just how interwoven the song is with the film’s score by the aforementioned Kris Bowers. The whole scene may only be seven minutes long, but it’s pretty clear that they put a lot of thought into it just from this song teaser.
That’s not all either. Maren Morris will also have an additional original song titled “Even When I’m Not” that will be part of the full soundtrack album for The Wild Robot alongside “Kiss the Sky”. Both songs represent a collaborative effort, co-written by Morris along with Ali Tamposi, Michael Pollack, Delacey, Jordan Johnson and Stefan Johnson, with Isaiah Tejada contributing additional writing to “Even When I’m Not”.
Fortunately, we will soon know the context of these songs. The Wild Robot will make its theatrical debut on September 27, 2024. You can find out more about this upcoming movie on its official website.
Bonus: Movie Poster and Synopsis
That’s not all, folks! DreamWorks Animation also has an official synopsis for The Wild Robot to further hype the film. You can read that synopsis below:
The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short — that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.
