For those who bemoan the way the holiday season seems to jump straight from Halloween to Christmas, this one’s for you. Max’s upcoming original comedy Sweethearts takes place over Thanksgiving, and arrives this November.
In Sweethearts, two college freshmen make a pact to pull a “Turkey Dump” – ie, break up with their high school sweethearts over Thanksgiving break. The result? A chaotic night out in their hometown that puts their codependent friendship to the test.
Kiernan Shipka and Nico Hiraga lead the feature. Shipka’s recent film credits include Twisters, Longlegs, and Totally Killer; she also held long-running TV roles on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Mad Men. Hiraga’s credits include The Power, Rosaline, Booksmart, and Ballers.
You can check out a few first look images from the film debuted by Max today below.
In addition to Shipka and Hiraga, Sweethearts also stars Caleb Hearon, Tramell Tillman, Ava Demary, Charlie Hall, Joel Kim Booster, and Christine Taylor.
The film comes from Dollface creator Jordan Weiss, who co-wrote the script with Dan Brier. It also serves as Weiss’ directorial debut. Both Weiss and Brier serve as executive producers. Additional EPs include Picturestart’s Julia Hammer, Samie Kim Falvey, and Shayne Fiske Goldner.
Sweethearts premieres – when else? – this Thanksgiving, November 28, on Max. Until then, check back to THS for the official trailer and more updates.
