Channing Tatum’s surprise appearance as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine was a major highlight for fans, finally bringing a comic-accurate version of Remy LeBeau to the big screen. However, the film left viewers wondering about Gambit’s fate after the climactic battle in the Void. While X-23’s survival was confirmed, the status of Gambit, Blade, and Elektra remained ambiguous. Thankfully, a recently released deleted scene shared by Ryan Reynolds sheds light on the matter. It appears Gambit did indeed survive the film, leaving the door open for his potential return in future MCU projects.
GAMBIT SURVIVES THE VOID
GAMBIT’S FUTURE
As most likely know, Tatum was originally slated to headline his own Gambit film prior to Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox. His appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine as the character was finally their chance to suit up as the iconic Marvel superhero. For fans of Gambit, seeing that they survived and have potentially exited the Void is exciting news. While there’s no official word on whether Tatum will reprise his role, the overwhelmingly positive response to his brief cameo could sway Disney’s decision. As the MCU gears up to introduce the X-Men, familiar faces like Gambit and Wolverine could pave the way for the mutant team’s integration.
However, if Tatum’s version of Gambit is never seen again, one thing is for certain. He did make a name for himself.
