Everybody Hates Chris is a rather peculiar sitcom for a number of reasons. The most notable of these reasons is that this 2005 live-action series is semi-autobiographical in nature on the part of Chris Rock, who showran alongside Ali LeRoi. I say “semi” because the show is not one-for-one accurate with Chris Rock’s childhood. However, the show does draw upon much of his life experiences, including themes of adolescence and family life in inner-city poverty. All in order to make a parody of Everybody Loves Raymond to boot.

Alas, the show came to an end on May 8, 2009; after four seasons totaling 88 episodes in all. Quite the lengthy run for a sitcom now, isn’t it? However, it appears that Comedy Central doesn’t quite want the franchise to end yet. How else do you explain them wanting to bring back the show due to a case of Everybody Still Hates Chris?

Everybody Still Hates Chris: Details

Comedy Central is proud to announce Everybody Still Hates Chris. This will basically be a revival of Everybody Hates Chris, but in an adult animated format. CBS Studios and Chris Rock Enterprises is producing this show alongside 3 Arts Entertainment.

Speaking of which actually, Chris Rock (Rustin, Fargo) himself is not only executive producing, but also will star in this animated revival as Adult Chris, “narrating stories inspired by his experience growing up as a skinny nerd in a large working-class family in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, during the late 1980s”. The cast also includes Terry Crews (America’s Got Talent, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Julius, Tichina Arnold (The Neighborhood) will voice Rochelle, both of who will be reprising their roles from Everybody Hates Chris as Chris’s father and mother respectively. Other notable voice roles will include Tim Johnson Jr. (Saturdays) as Young Chris, Ozioma Akagha (DELILAH) will voice Tonya, Terrence Little Gardenhigh (Danger Force) as Drew, and Gunnar Sizemore (Kung Fu Panda) as Greg.

Everybody Still Hates Chris will make its debut on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 10pm ET/PT. Alas, we don’t know who will be streaming this series when it does. However, we do know that the original live-action series is currently streaming on Paramount+. Perhaps that will be the home of this upcoming adult animated series.

Tune back in to THS to find out more about Everybody Still Hates Chris when we do.
