Netflix’s new coming-of-age comedy, Incoming is a delightful coming-of-age comedy that follows a group of freshman on the wildest night of their lives. While the premise is similar to 2007’s Superbad, this story from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Dave Chernin and John Chernin, is much more of a family-friendly comedy.

Incoming follows Benj (Mason Thames) the adorably awkward nerd who is crushing on his sister’s BFF, Bailey (Isabella Ferreira). Danah (Bardia Seiri) wants nothing more than to get out of his older brother’s shadow. So, he tries to hijack his brother’s party for his popularity gain. Both characters are convinced that this party is their golden ticket to high school fame and maybe even a little romance—because nothing says “cool” like awkwardly trying to impress girls at a party where you’re likely to trip over your own feet.

To round out the Incoming friend group, there’s Eddie (Ramon Reed) and Connor (Raphael Alejandro). The duo are kicked out of the party after Danah has to choose only one friend allowed to stay – Benj. Even though they miss out on the party entirely, they find themselves on a side adventure that involves driving around all night, making questionable decisions, and probably getting lost more times than they can count.

Their escapades are a hilarious reminder that sometimes the best stories come from the nights you didn’t plan, especially when you’re two nerds just trying to figure out how to navigate the wild world of high school without a map—or a clue!

Incoming features a delightfully awkward musical number reminiscent that evokes the era of 2000s teen comedies. Along with an unexpected ending that I genuinely appreciated I think the movie is worth a watch.

incoming is now streaming on Netflix! Check it out!
