Think of what we could do, together. With the long-awaited premiere of the screen adaptation of Wicked only months away, Universal released a new behind-the-scenes clip to share with fans.
The footage features scenes from the upcoming film, along with behind-the-scenes interviews with stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, as well as director Jon Chu.
“Wicked to me, at its very core, is about friendship,” Chu says in the clip, which explores both the on-screen friendship between Glinda and Elphaba, in addition to the real-life bond between the lead actors.

Wicked adapts the award-winning stage musical of the same name to screen. The story takes place in the realm of Oz, but set years before Dorothy drops in.
In the film, Elphaba (Erivo) and Glinda (Grande) meet as students at Shiz University and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power, while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences on her future. Their adventures will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
The feature adaptation of Wicked draws on both the musical and the musical’s original inspiration, the novel by Gregory Macguire. The events will play out over the course of not just one, but two feature films. The first film premieres this November, with the second coming in November 2025.
Wicked premieres in theaters November 22. So, get your pink and green ready!
