In Speak No Evil, an American family accepts an invite to spend the weekend at the idyllic country estate of a charming British family they befriended on vacation. But what begins as a dream holiday soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare.
The upcoming horror film stars James McAvoy as the charismatic estate owner whose hospitality masks a deep and unspeakable darkness. In a new promo clip for the film, McAvoy and his co-stars tease what’s to come for fans.
“Speak No Evil is about social and psychological darkness… you feel like you’re trapped in a cage the whole time,” teases McAvoy.
His co-star Mackenzie Davis has some more straightforward advice.
“Never hang out with vacation friends after the vacation,” she says.

Speak No Evil comes from Blumhouse, as an American adaptation of a 2022 Danish horror flick Gæsterne. The original Danish feature landed an impressive 11 Danish Film Award nominations, the country’s equivalent of Academy Awards.
This iteration comes from writer/director James Watkins (The Woman in Black).
The film stars Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate) and SAG award-winner Scoot McNairy (A Quiet Place Part II) as the American couple Louise and Ben Dalton, who, along with their 11-year-old daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler, Riverdale), accept the weekend-holiday invitation of Paddy (McAvoy), his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi, Game of Thrones) and their furtive, mute son Ant (newcomer Dan Hough).
Speak No Evil premieres in theaters September 13.
