Hey everybody, have you heard the news? Joe Bob is back in town. This week, Joe Bob and Darcy gave us the last great gasp of Giallo. The movie shown was Cemetery Man.

If you’re unfamiliar, every second week on The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs. The former Monstervision host and his co-host Darcy The Mail Girl feature a movie; that sometimes has a timely theme (although, it’s not always necessary).

As a reminder, Shudder announced that the season will end with a dusk-to-dawn six-movie marathon. So get your full eight hours of sleep, stock up on coffee, and get comfy as Joe Bob and Darcy take us into a deep dive into six films.

Digging Up Cemetery Man

This episode focused on a movie that was the last great gasp of the Giallo subgenre but veered into confusing elements in the segments.

Cemetary Man

There was a recurring joke of Joe Bob shooting zombies on set, which sure tied into the movie but got very old very fast. Darcy was in an interesting outfit befitting of the movie, but that too can only get you so far.

There wasn’t a guest per se. They did bring on Felissa Rose, the mangled dick expert, to chime in on the movie’s bizarre approach to penis phobia but Felissa didn’t stick around for long, which is a shame because she has great energy. Rupert Everett may not be easy to get, and the rest of the cast are primarily Italian actors. It still would’ve been nice to have someone on; even if someone was not directly tied to the movie. I quickly got bored of the segments, and unlike most episodes of The Last Drive-In, I didn’t feel like this one added anything substantial to the movie itself.

The movie itself was sporadic and all over the place. It feels like the movie is in its third act a handful of times only to stop and start again with a new idea. It looked interesting enough and had some cool scenes. However, this largely felt like a forgettable movie with only the excessive nudity and sex being the only real thing of interest and even that is not enough to keep interest.

Conclusion

With the movie being lackluster and the segments doing nothing to enhance the experience, this felt like an episode by the numbers. With the episode hits the small points that you expect but with no real enthusiasm or quality behind it. I wouldn’t say this is an episode to watch unless you’re a die-hard fan of the show and even then I would say you could pass this up and not miss much.
