Sleep is a very odd film. Its choice of genres is quite bizarre since it’s labeled as a Korean black comedy horror mystery thriller. Even odder is that this is one of the final appearances of Lee Sun-kyun. You might recognize that name from other hit thrillers like Parasite. Sadly, he passed away in late December 2023, thus explaining why this film is one of his last. Oh well, at least he went out with one hell of a banger film. Don’t believe me? Then why not check out the new official trailer below, and see for yourself just how amazingly bizarre this film is?

Sleep: Details

When your husband has no end to his sleep disorders.

Magnet Releasing is proud to announce Sleep via that brand new official trailer on YouTube. According to them, this Korean thriller from director and writer Jason Yu and starring Lee Sun-kyun and Jung Yu-mi will make its theatrical debut on September 27, 2024. That date will also be when this film will become available to download digitally. Alas, tickets aren’t available yet as of this writing. We’ll just have to wait for Magnet Releasing to give us that info later.

Bonus: Official Poster and Synopsis

Sleep NA official poster.
No sleep for either of them, it seems.

That’s not all, folks! Magnet Releasing also has an official synopsis for Sleep as a teaser for the plot. You can check out that synopsis below:

SLEEP follows newlyweds Hyun-su (Lee Sun-kyun, PARASITE) and Soo-jin (Jung Yu-mi), whose domestic bliss is disrupted when Hyun-su begins speaking in his sleep, ominously stating, “Someone’s inside.”  From that night on, whenever he falls asleep, Hyun-su transforms into someone else, with no recollection of what happened the night before. Overwhelmed with anxiety that he may hurt himself or their young family, Soo-jin can barely sleep because of this irrational fear. Despite treatment, Hyun-su’s sleepwalking only intensifies, and Soo-jin begins to feel that her unborn child may be in danger. A new thriller from director Jason Yu, who worked with Korean legends Bong Joon-ho and Lee Chang-dong before making his debut film, SLEEP world-premiered in Cannes’ Critics’ Week.
