It’s pretty clear that DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 11 is where SHIP gets real. Not just the human organization, but also the aliens in the actual mothership as well. Everything is getting real when violence starts to look like the only answer to violence being directed at them.

DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 11: Details

DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION NA key visual.
I feel that slice of life aspect to the anime is shrinking more and more as it goes on.

DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 11 is the 11th episode (you can read my reviews of Ep. 0Ep. 1Ep. 2Ep. 3Ep. 4Ep. 5Ep. 6Ep. 7Ep. 8Ep. 9, and Ep. 10 here) of this science fiction slice-of-life anime series. Said anime is the anime adaptation of the manga of the same name by Inio Asano (SolaninGoodnight Punpun). Said anime also originally premiered as a pair of anime films on March 22, 2024, and May 24, 2024Production +h. (The Orbital Children) is the animation studio behind this anime. Crunchyroll is the company licensing this anime for its worldwide debut.

Production Cast

Tomoyuki Kurokawa is the director behind DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 11, and alas, he is the only member of the production cast we know is behind this specific episode. For the anime as a whole, we do still know that Tomoyuki Kurokawa (PSYCHO-PASS) is the director. Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden) is the writer. Takaaki Suzuki (Violet Evergarden series) did the world setting. Nobutake Ito (INU-OH) is the chief animation director and character designer. Satoshi Takezawa (Digimon Adventure) is the color designer. Mika Nishimura (Typhoon Noruda) is the art director. Satoi Inami is the CG director. Takuma Morooka (Moriarty the Patriot) is the cinematographer. Masayuki Kurosawa (Laid-Back Camp) is the editor. Takeshi Takadera ([Oshi no Ko]) is the sound director. Taro Umebayashi (Space Dandy) is the composer responsible for the music.

Speaking of the music: the opening theme song is “Shinsekai Yori” (SHINSEKAIより, lit. ’ From the New World’) by Ano and Lilas Ikuta. This time though, “Seishun Ōka” (青春謳歌, lit. ’ Adolescence Hymn’) by Lilas Ikuta feat. Ano is the new ending theme song for this second part.

DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 11: Synopsis

We see him a bit in this episode, actually. Hard to know what he’s thinking about all this though.

DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 11: The Good

Not yet sure if this is a good thing or not.

It’s definitely the story of DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 11 that has me on the edge of my seat. Mostly because of how the slice-of-life aspects of this anime are at a minimum in this episode, and it’s mostly a combination of drama and thriller here. Honestly, there’s so much drama in this episode. From JSDF soldiers grappling with PTSD to a dangerous encounter between Futaba and Kenichi, this episode had some very good drama. Very dark, but very good. You start to long for the fun slice-of-life sections just like you savor the slight amount of sweetness in the very darkest of dark chocolate. Seriously, Ontan and co. are the ones keeping this episode from being too dark for my tastes.

Complementing that amazing story by Inio Asano is the animation. The most excellent animation that Production +h. continue to maintain. Even right down to the goriest details, because my god. This episode is quite possibly one of the goriest and most violent episodes in the anime so far. We literally see groups of children being gunned down by machine gun fire. It’s…it’s very distressing. Definitely putting some content warnings here for violence and gore, because it’s to some pretty distressing levels.

DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 11: The Bad

This is a very bad thing, even though this gun looks so innocuous.

There is actually a lot of action in DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 11. However, it’s not the kind of action most action junkies would enjoy. Not unless you like war crimes being committed right in front of you. If you want high-intensity action in the vein of a Michael Bay movie, then you might want to check out Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Solo Leveling, Kaiju No. 8, and/or The Elusive Samurai. If those anime series don’t get your blood pumping, then I don’t know what will.
