Back in the 1990s, Bruce W. Timm was part of the team that brought Batman: The Animated Series to life. The show defined The Dark Knight for an entire generation of DC Comics fans and still stands as one of the best comic book adaptations of all time. But now, Timm has joined forces with legendary filmmakers J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves to reimagine Batman’s iconic mythology once again with Batman: Caped Crusader.

Prime Video’s latest superhero show on focuses on a younger Batman, voiced by Midnight Mass star Hamish Linklater. The hero embarks on noir-inspired adventures during the early days of his crime-fighting career when corruption and mob violence were rampant. And rather than the more flamboyant depictions of the characters previously seen in animated DC projects, rogues such as Catwoman, Clayface, and Two-Face are presented in a more grounded way that would fit right into the Golden Age of Comic Books.

Minnie Driver as Oswalda Cobblepot/The Penguin

Before the premiere of the new series, THS spoke to a few of the stars at San Diego Comic-Con. First, fresh off the announcement that she would be portraying the Penguin in Batman: Caped Crusader, the acclaimed Minnie Driver of Good Will Hunting, Grosse Pointe Blank, and Tarzan fame. Plus, with the house just down the road in San Diego, Chung reminisced on her days on The Real World, as well as fellow MTV alum and former WWE Champion The Miz.

Hamish Linklater as Bruce Wayne/Batman
