DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 9 is for the most part a slice of life episode. Mostly depicts the girls’ college days as they continue to try to live a normal life in Tokyo under the shadow of the massive alien UFO. However, those aliens continue to bleed into that normal, everyday life. Sometimes quite literally.

Production Cast

Tomoyuki Kurokawa is the director behind DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 9, and alas, he is the only member of the production cast we know is behind this specific episode. For the anime as a whole, we do still know that Tomoyuki Kurokawa (PSYCHO-PASS) is the director. Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden) is the writer. Takaaki Suzuki (Violet Evergarden series) did the world setting. Nobutake Ito (INU-OH) is the chief animation director and character designer. Satoshi Takezawa (Digimon Adventure) is the color designer. Mika Nishimura (Typhoon Noruda) is the art director. Satoi Inami is the CG director. Takuma Morooka (Moriarty the Patriot) is the cinematographer. Masayuki Kurosawa (Laid-Back Camp) is the editor. Takeshi Takadera ([Oshi no Ko]) is the sound director. Taro Umebayashi (Space Dandy) is the composer responsible for the music.

Speaking of the music: the opening theme song is “Shinsekai Yori” (SHINSEKAIより, lit. ’From the New World’) by Ano and Lilas Ikuta. This time though, “Seishun Ōka” (青春謳歌, lit. ’Adolescence Hymn’) by Lilas Ikuta feat. Ano is the new ending theme song for this second part.

DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 9: Synopsis

We actually do see this guy again, but at the very end of the episode.

Alas, DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION is an ongoing anime series. In fact, DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 9 only just premiered four days ago as of this writing. Thus, you will all get the official synopsis of this episode from Crunchyroll in place of a spoiler-filled plot summary. You can check out that synopsis below:

Kadode, Oran, Ai, and Rin begin their studies and meet Futaba on campus. As various protest movements gain strength, the government finds it impossible to hide the existence of the invaders any longer after the recent incident.

She looks like she’s about to fall asleep into a warm, happy dream.

The story of DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 9 is definitely what has me sitting on the edge of my seat. Well, not the slice-of-life parts that make up most of this episode. Those parts let me relax and just chill to Kadode, Oran, and co. just hanging out, and having fun in their college life. It’s a nice cushion against the more serious parts of this episode, especially in the dying minutes of it. Suddenly, those parts turns this episode into a very dark and bloody sci-fi thriller. It’s that combination of light and dark from Inio Asano that makes this episode like one of the best dark chocolate.

Fortunately, the animation continues to complement the excellent story very well. Production +h. continues to ensure feature-length anime film levels of quality of this anime. Which is quite fitting, since this studio is also behind the anime film duology that this anime was adapted from.

DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 9: The Bad

Whether this is a good thing or bad is something we’ll be finding out later.

Alas though, DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 9 is not the episode for action junkies. Yes, there is a tiny bit of action in this episode, but it’s of the dark thriller kind. All played for horror, of course. Thus, if you want the kind of high-intensity action scenes you would expect in an action film, then you might want to check out Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Solo Leveling, Kaiju No. 8, and/or The Elusive Samurai. Those anime should have more than enough action to satisfy any junkie.
