A Family Affair is the latest rom-com from Netflix. The film tells the story of an incredibly complicated love affair. Initially, Zara (Joey King) serves as the assistant to movie star Chris Cole (Zac Efron). However, everything changes when Chris unexpectedly falls in love with her mother (Nicole Kidman). Supported by her best friend (Liza Koshy) and experiencing a few breakdowns along the way, we witness Zara navigating the unfamiliar territory of seeing her mother as a woman for the first time, and much more.

A fun ride with a star-studded cast featuring two Academy Award winners and talented comedy actors characterizes A Family Affair. Moreover, the film promises an entertaining watch and delivers. The premise of the movie harks back to the classic rom-com but adds a unique familial twist. Additionally, each character is well-defined, with their personal arcs and purposes intricately woven into the narrative, driving the story forward with depth, charm, and hilarity.

Director Richard Lagravenese is no stranger to romance. He brought to life my favorite cry-romance film, P.S. I Love You, as well as the fantastic movie adaptation of the musical, The Last Five Years his expertise and passion for the genre shines through in A Family Affair. His experience and dedication undoubtedly contribute to the success of this charming rom-com.

THE CAST SHINES IN A FAMILY AFFAIR!

Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron deliver a spectacular performance together, showcasing effortless chemistry and comedic talent that is a joy to watch. I was aware of Joey King’s comedic talent. However, her prowess in physical comedy took me by surprise. Mastering physical comedy is no easy feat; yet, she executes it flawlessly.

Liza Koshy, known as one of the pioneering comedy YouTubers, has successfully transitioned into acting. Witnessing her growth over the years has been remarkable, and her performance as Zara’s best friend is nothing short of spectacular. One of my favorite things about A Family Affair is that the best friend isn’t just there as the comedic relief. Instead, She’s a fully fleshed-out character with her own life, challenges, and growth, all while being an integral part of Zara’s journey.

So, if you’re looking for a hilarious romantic comedy with an impeccable cast make sure to watch A Family Affair streaming on Netflix on June 28, 2024!
