Downton Abbey returns in 2025! The beloved period drama series — and now film franchise — unveiled an official theatrical release date for Downton Abbey 3 today. Mark you calendars for September 12, 2025.

Focus Features and Universal Pictures International will once again partner to bring Downton Abbey to the big screen. The third film is written by the original series creator and Academy Award-winner Julian Fellowes. BAFTA and Emmy Award nominee Simon Curtis will also return to direct after helming 2022’s Downton Abbey: A New Era.

The third feature film will see many familiar faces reappear. Returning cast members include Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Allen Leech, Penelope Wilton, Lesley Nicol, Michael Fox, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Harry Hadden-Paton, Sophie McShera, Douglas Reith, and Dominic West. Downton Abbey 3 will also feature Paul Giamatti, Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan, among others.

Downton Abbey ran for six seasons between 2010 and 2015. The series chronicled the lives of the British aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the early twentieth century. In 2019, the first Downton Abbey feature film premiered.

Downton Abbey 3 is currently in production in the UK. The film will release theatrically September 12, 2025.
