Alejandro Brugués is no stranger to horror movies, he’s got films like Juan of the Dead, Nightmare Cinema, and Pooka Lives! in his filmography. Now, he returns with The Inheritance. The brand new horror movie from Vertical will be directed by Brugués and was written by Joe Russo and Chris LaMont (Soul Mates, The Au-Pair Nightmare). It was originally titled The Last Will and Testament of Charles Abernathy, but has since changed to The Inheritance and will release on demand on July 12th. Our friends at Bloody Disgusting were first with the exclusive look at the trailer, shown above.
Here’s a synopsis of the film:
“On the eve of his 75th birthday, billionaire Charles Abernathy invites his estranged children back home out of fear that tonight someone or something is going to kill him. He puts each of their inheritances on the line, to ensure they’ll help keep him alive.”
It stars Peyton List, David Walton, Rachel Nichols, Austin Stowell, and Bob Gunton.
Russo and LaMont also wrote the excellent Soul Mates, which you can read our review of, here.
As for The Inheritance, it looks like what a great horror movie will do, take a story that’s familiar to everyone and add some horror elements to it. Something is coming for Mr. Abernathy, and we’ll have to find out on July 12th.
