Only, the aliens don’t seem all that interested in invasion and whatnot. However, the humans in this episode are definitely interested in applying force to these mysterious visitors from another world, however misapplied it is.

Said anime is the anime adaptation of the manga of the same name by Inio Asano (Solanin, Goodnight Punpun). Said anime also originally premiered as a pair of anime films on March 22, 2024 and May 24, 2024. Production +h. (The Orbital Children) is the animation studio behind this anime. Crunchyroll is the company licensing this anime for its worldwide debut.

Alas, we don’t know who is behind DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 2, just as we still don’t know who is behind any specific episode so far. Speaking of music: “ZeZeZeZettai Seiiki” by ano featuring Lilas Ikuta is the ending theme song for this anime. In fact, it was the theme song of the anime film too.

And as it turns out: there are very good reasons why they are wearing sunglasses.

There’s no doubt about it. It’s definitely the story of DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 2 by Inio Asano that has me hooked. There’s something entrancing about this slice of life story taking place during an alien invasion…of a sort. While Kadode and Oran are busy living their daily life, their government and military are busy doing something about the aliens. Not particularly good somethings either, hence the title of this review. To the point where at times, this anime veers into military fiction. All while the effects of the aliens’ arrival subtly creeps even into the slice of life parts of the anime. It’s that weird mix of genres that’s why I love this story.

Adding to that enjoyment of the story is the animation. Production +h. are doing a wonderful job with this anime both in its animation quality and in its style. Which does make sense given that this anime was originally a pair of anime films. You would want your anime films to have a pretty high level of both quality and style. I mean, all you have to do is look at the promotional still image above to see that.

Are you perhaps an action junkie who is only interested in action and nothing else? Alas, DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 2 doesn’t have anywhere near that much action for those junkies. There’s certainly quite a bit of military action, but not a whole lot. If you want action upon action, then you might want to check out Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Solo Leveling, and Kaiju No. 8.
