In a bit of surprising news, Paul Giamatti is heading to TV for a Hostel TV series. The new series comes from creator Eli Roth, and will see him return to write and direct. THR had the details of the new series.
There aren’t any plot details as of right now, but it’ll be a modern adaptation of the series and an elevated thriller. Franchise producers Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss are also coming back. Briggs is co-writing the script with Roth. It might seem a bit strange for Giamatti to be in a horror series like this, but he’s a huge fan of the genre.
The first Hostel was released in 2005 and set in a world where the rich can pay to torture and murder captured victims. 2007 saw Hostel: Part II with Roth directing that film as well. 2011 saw Scott Spiegel take over as director for Hostel: Part III.
We’ll have to see how the premise for the series transfers over to a TV show.
Eli Roth has been busy of late with the release of Thanksgiving last year, and the release of Borderlands this year. He’s also working on Thanksgiving 2 for 2025. So his schedule should be quite busy coming up.
