Jeremy Renner Joins Daniel Craig In Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
Jeremy Renner has starred alongside some of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but now he’ll be joining Daniel Craig in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Deadline was first with the news. The Oscar-nominated actor also joins the new cast of the film including Kerry Washington, Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Glenn Close, and Andrew Scott. Rian Johnson is back to write and direct the film. He’ll also produce the film through his company T-Street with producing partner Ram Bergman.
We don’t have any plot details available, but it’ll be another murder mystery with Blanc at the center of it.
Here’s what Johnson had to say about the new film on social media.
“I love everything about whodunits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”
The first film, Knives Out, grossed an impressive $312 million against a $40 million budget. Netflix bought the rights to the series for $450 million and gave us 2022’s Glass Onion. That film was the first Netflix movie to ever play in the US’s three biggest theater chains, AMC, Regal, and Cinemark. It grossed over $15 million in a limited, one-week-only run. There is no word on if Netflix will put this third film into theaters.
Each film in the series has only had one constant with Daniel Craig as the enigmatic Benoit Blanc.
This will be Renner’s first feature film project since his incredible recovery from a near-fatal snowplow accident in 2022. He’s gone through multiple surgeries and physical therapy/rehab to get to the point where he can act again. His series, Mayor of Kingstown has its third season premiere this weekend.
