Glenn Close Joins Wake Up Dead Man – Knives Out 3
We saw Kerry Washington join the cast of Wake Up Dead Man earlier today, and now it looks like Glenn Close is as well. THR is reporting that Close has joined the cast of Rian Johnson’s latest mystery film for Netflix. It starts production in early June, so naturally, that means lots of casting news.
Glenn Close joins Kerry Washington, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, and Josh O’Connor. Daniel Craig returns as Benoit Blanc and Rian Johnson directs and writes the film. Johnson and his partner Ram Bergman are also producing the film under their company, T-Street.
We don’t have any plot details available, but it’ll be another murder mystery with Blanc at the center of it.
Here’s what Johnson had to say about the new film on social media.
“I love everything about whodunits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”
The first film, Knives Out, grossed an impressive $312 million against a $40 million budget. Netflix bought the rights to the series for $450 million and gave us 2022’s Glass Onion. That film was the first Netflix movie to ever play in the US’s three biggest theater chains, AMC, Regal, and Cinemark. It grossed over $15 million in a limited, one-week-only run. There is no word on if Netflix will put this third film into theaters.
Each film in the series has only had one constant with Daniel Craig as the enigmatic Benoit Blanc.
Glenn Close is about as close as they come to Hollywood royalty. She’s an eight-time Oscar nominee and a three-time Tony winner. She has plenty of movies on her schedule coming up like The Deliverance and Back In Action.
