Chicken for Linda! is a rather oddball French film. At its core, it’s basically a family comedy with a very unique animation style. However, it also appears to be a whimsical comedy commenting on the state of the French economy, especially in regards to strikes. Don’t believe me? Then why not check out the trailer below from GKIDS, and see for yourself if you can make chicken for a little girl without all the comical slapstick in between?

Chicken for Linda!: Details

I swear, this film looks like an abstract painting in motion.

GKIDS is proud to announce that they are bringing Chicken for Linda! to home video via that YouTube trailer above. Apparently, this 2023 French language animated film by Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach will finally be getting a NA release courtesy of that company. When, you might ask? Well, GKIDS mentions that this film will be available on all major digital platforms starting on July 2, 2024. However, you don’t have to wait that long to get it. You can in fact preorder it right now from iTunes. Alas, we have no word on when any physical home video release will be coming. That will be something we’ll have to wait for GKIDS to announce later.

Chicken for Linda! NA key visual.
Have to admit: the art style is certainly quite eye-catching.

Want a better idea of what Chicken for Linda! is all about? Well, don’t worry. GKIDS has an official synopsis for this animated film to help us out with that. You can check this synopsis out below:

After unfairly punishing her daughter Linda, Paulette is wracked with guilt and offers to make it up to her. Linda immediately asks for a meal of chicken with peppers, just like her father used to make. But with a general strike closing stores and pushing people into the streets all across town, the simple request quickly leads to an outrageous series of madcap events that spirals out of control as Paulette does everything she can to keep her promise and find a chicken for Linda.

CHICKEN FOR LINDA! is a sparkling, comical tale, and its animated whimsy will appeal to families and animation connoisseurs alike.
