If you’re unfamiliar with the incredible Peacock Series, We Are Lady Parts, do yourself a favor and watch it! It was my favorite series of 2021, and now, 3 years later, we are FINALLY getting the well-deserved season 2!
We Are Lady Parts tells the story of an all-female, Muslim punk band – Lady Parts – who is on a mission to find a lead guitarist…as well as play their first LIVE gig. The band is made up of strong-willed rhythm guitarist Saira (Sarah Kameela Impey), quirky mother and bassist Bisma (Faith Omole), as well as their hot-tempered drummer Ayesha (Juliette Motamed). However, they find their missing piece in the strangest place with Amina (Anja Vasan). Amina is a super shy, microbiologist who hides her guitar talent from the world…she also has wicked stage fright.
I had a chance to sit down with Anjana Vasan (Amina) and Sarah Kameela Impey (Saira) to discuss all things We Are Lady Parts season 2.

MORE ABOUT WE ARE LADY PARTS
In Season 2 of WE ARE LADY PARTS, the band comes back with a fresh artistic vision following their successful UK tour. However, their delicate equilibrium is jeopardized by a rival group. As they confront the challenges of pursuing success, Lady Parts navigate the complexities of recording their debut album, balancing personal aspirations as well as questioning their true desires to achieve fame and fortune.
In season two, we explore the interior lives of each of the women in more depth. Each of them facing new, existential challenges with all the silliness, pratfalls and banter of season one. The music is bigger too – more wild original tunes (penned by me and my siblings) and dare I say it, even better covers. The season overall asks the question of success. What is success? For a punk band – is fame, stadium shows and major record deals the answer? I wanted to explore the uncomfortable tension between art and commerce and ask how much compromise is too much. I’m really proud of what we achieved, and can’t wait to share it with old fans and new.
