DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 0 is the very first episode of this postapocalyptic science fiction slice of life anime series. Said anime is the anime adaptation of the manga of the same name by Inio Asano (Solanin, Goodnight Punpun). Said anime also originally premiered as a pair of anime films on March 22, 2024 and May 24, 2024. The brand new Production +h. (The Orbital Children) is the animation studio behind this anime. Crunchyroll is the company licensing this anime for its worldwide debut.

Alas, we don’t know who is behind DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 0 specifically as of this writing. Look at this happy life. It doesn’t last.

Honestly, there’s no doubt about it. The story of DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 0 is the best part about it. The episode basically starts off as a dramatic slice of life story, before events suddenly swing the episode firmly into a postapocalyptic sci-fi thriller. There is so much suspense, action, and bloody violence in this episode that it makes you question the slice of life genre that this anime supposedly belongs to. Despite that, it makes this episode something that you sit on the edge of your seat throughout it, wondering what’s going to happen to the main characters in it? Certainly, fans of postapocalyptic stories like Fallout and Mad Max will appreciate this episode.

That’s not the only thing that’s great about this episode, though. The animation quality, as you can see in the screenshots above and below, is pretty good. As befitting the fact that it’s the anime adaptation of the anime films, it has a highly detailed art style that adds to both the slice of life fluff and the nightmarish post-apocalyptic world. All in a highly stylized animation style that makes everyone look just a bit…boopable. There’s just something adorably cute about the art style. It somehow fits this anime perfectly in both its lighthearted moments and its dark.

Do you not like suspense, action, or dark thrillers? Well, to be honest, I can’t blame you if you don’t. DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 0 is a very, very dark and depressing episode. If you want something lighter and happier, then may I suggest Astro Note, Spice and Wolf: MERCHANT MEETS THE WISE WOLF, or even Black Butler -Public School Arc-? Those might be good anime to relax to after watching this.
