My Bloody Valentine Is Making A Comeback Thanks To Blumhouse
The 1981 slasher My Bloody Valentine was and is ahead of its time for what it was doing on screen. A child of the post-Halloween landscape, it upped the ante in regards to content matter and gave us a new slasher icon in The Miner. Since then, we’ve had a remake My Bloody Valentine 3D in 2009, and the absolutely magnificent Blu-ray release by Scream Factory of the original film. In the 15 years since that remake, the fandom for the film has only grown.
Our friends at Bloody Disgusting are reporting that Blumhouse has taken on the franchise for a new installment. As for other details, they don’t have any. The original film goes something like this.
“A decades-old folk tale surrounding a deranged murderer killing those who celebrate Valentine’s Day turns out to be true to legend when a group defies the killer’s order and people start turning up dead.”
The original film is well worth watching these days. The unrated cut is especially worth it, and it is only available on Blu-ray from Scream Factory. The remake made over $100 million at the box office and was very similar to the original in plot.
“Tom returns to his hometown on the tenth anniversary of the Valentine’s night massacre that claimed the lives of 22 people. Instead of a homecoming, Tom finds himself suspected of committing the murders, and it seems like his old flame is the only one that believes he’s innocent.”
