New Jurassic World Adds Rupert Friend As Co-Star Alongside Scarlett Johansson
After plenty of deliberation and rumors, the new Jurassic World film from Gareth Edwards has found a co-star alongside Scarlett Johansson. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Rupert Friend has joined the movie. The film also stars Jonathan Bailey and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park, is back to write the script for this film. Plot details are locked away for now.
The film is set to begin production in mid-June in London. Universal is banking on a quick turnaround for filming and post-production for a theatrical release of July 2nd. 2025. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce the film alongside executive producer Steven Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment.
Friend has recently starred in the Wes Anderson films The French Dispatch and Asteroid City. He also played the Grand Inquisitor in the Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+. He’s recently wrapped the sci-fi thriller Companion from Zach Cregger.
The new movie will be a completely different take on the Jurassic franchise. It likely won’t include Chris Pratt or Bryce Dallas Howard from the three previous Jurassic World films, as well as Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, or Sam Neill. If you forgot, Jurassic World: Dominion is one of the only films in recent years, since the COVID-19 pandemic to rake in over $1 billion at the box office.
