Dune: Part Two 4K UHD Review
Dune: Part Two took theaters by storm earlier this year, and now it’s already available for purchase on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. This review will be of the 4K UHD disc put out by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Starting off with the nerdy technical babble, the disc is Native 4K (2160p), features Dolby Vision, HDR10, Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD 7.1, and of course, includes a digital code. If you missed out on the film in theaters, it’s telling the second half of the first novel by Frank Herbert, Dune.
It stars Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, and Stellan Skarsgard. Newcomers include Florence Pugh, Lea Seydoux, Austin Butler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Christopher Walken. Dune: Part Two – A Perfect Spectacle [Review]
As for the contents of the disc, starting off with the picture and audio, Dune: Part Two is about as perfect as it gets. If you’re watching this on your badass home theater setup, you will not be disappointed. For people with more modest setups, this is still among the best possible discs you can buy to show off the 4K UHD format. The video is stunning with no perceivable artifacting. That comes with the territory from a triple-layered 4K disc. You’ll see all the details, textures, and colors here with immense detail. There’s no signs of color bleed, especially with the blacks and whites.
If you’re looking for the theatrical experience at home, this is what it should look like.
The audio is just as impressive here, with the booming soundtrack, grinding of machinery, and whir of the suits all captured with exceptional detail on the Dolby track. Everything is as crisp and detailed as it needs to be. Those with 7.1 sound systems will not be disappointed with how this disc sounds.
As for the bonus features on the disc, there are more than you’d think from a brand-new studio release including featurettes like “Creating the Fremen World”, “Chakobsa Training”, “Worm-riding”, “Deeper Into the Desert: The Sounds of Dune”, and more. They cover several aspects of the pre-production and production process. They’re not the best selection, but they give hardcore fans enough to dig into. Here’s the full list:
- Chakobsa Training (4:51)
- Creating the Fremen World (11:41)
- Finding the Worlds of Dune (6:24)
- Buzz Around the New “Thopter” (3:51)
- Worm-Riding (9:23)
- Becoming Feyd (7:33)
- A New Set of Threads (7:40)
- Deeper into the Desert: The Sounds of the Dune (12:59)
Basically, if you want something to rock that 4K setup you have, or you’re in the mood for one of the best movies of 2024, or both, you need to own Dune: Part Two on 4K UHD.
