A new installment of The Strangers horror franchise debuts this week. So, we sat down with stars Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez to dive into what fans can expect from The Strangers: Chapter 1.
First, Gutierrez discussed his favorite script-to-screen scare.
“It has to be the crawl space sequence, with the rats and the nail and the slow pan up through the floorboards of the house. I just thought that was so cool,” Gutierrez told THS. “It was way beyond any expectations I could have had reading it on the page.”
Petsch agreed that scene was also a favorite of hers. She went on to discuss bringing a new chapter in a legacy horror franchise to life, and how previous Scream Queens inspire her work.
“I think every part of me is a piece of a film that I’ve loved and I’ve indulged myself in. I’m such a cinephile and so I do believe that my performances always are based on a million performances I’ve seen and my own intuition, but no one specifically for this [movie],” Petsch said. “I think there’s pieces of trying to make sure I’m playing against type. I never want to feel like I’m trying to be Liv Tyler in this. No one can be.”
