In A Violent Nature looks like it’s your traditional slasher premise. You’ve got an old legend about a massacre that occurred long ago. There’s a vengeful spirit that haunts a wilderness area that is a hulking, massive figure that kills using a hook or whatever else is nearby. However, just check out the trailer for In A Violent Nature and you’ll see things that are already a bit different from your standard slasher affair.

When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.
So we don’t want to spoil anything about the movie, but those going into it expecting a Friday the 13th ripoff are going to be sorely mistaken. Just experience it for yourself.
In A Violent Nature releases in theaters on May 31st and is UNRATED. It was written and directed by Chris Nash. It comes from IFC Films and Shudder. It’ll be making its way to Shudder later this year.
