A new take on the Man of Steel speeds into theaters next summer. And now, DC fans have a first look at the latest actor to don the cape: David Corenswet.
Corenswet will lead the upcoming Superman film from director James Gunn. This morning, Gunn shared an image of Corenswet in his Superman suit to social media.
The image shows Corenswet seated in an armchair, pulling on or adjusting one of Superman’s red boots. Behind him, floor-to-ceiling windows reveal a look at the city skyline (presumably Metropolis). A glowing orb streaks across the sky, perhaps hinting at some impending trouble for the caped hero.
The Superman suit itself looks a little dirtied up – a mid/post-battle Superman, perhaps? The texture of the fabric also appears different than the super suits we’ve seen in recent superhero films; it’s not spandex-y or high-tech and glossy. Instead, it looks more like a heavy, almost quilted fabric.
The caption of the post simply reads “Get ready” with the Superman hashtag and the film’s official release date of July 11, 2025. So, no more details beyond the photo tease.
In addition to Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, the cast of the upcoming Superman feature includes Nicholas Holt (Lex Luthor), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer), and Wendell Pierce (Perry White, editor of The Daily Planet).
