It’s long been rumored and guessed that Netflix was working on a new Fear Street movie. After the original trilogy blew up viewing records on the platform, they’ve finally given us a first look at the newest film Fear Street: Prom Queen.
The video above shows off some of the cast behind-the-scenes and confirms that work is underway on the next film in the series. It also confirms the cast that includes India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Lili Taylor, Ariana Greenblatt, and Katherine Waterston. Matt Palmer is directing and co-wrote the script with Donald McLeary.
From the looks of the teaser, we’re in for some classic-looking slasher vibes.
If you don’t know the plot of the 1992 book that the movie is based on, here’s a synopsis from Netflix.
Prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.
Fear Street: Prom Queen is currently fliming and does not have a release date yet.
The original trilogy for Fear Street: Part 1: 1994, Part 2: 1978, and Part 3: 1666 showed off just what Netflix was capable of when they put their full attention into a horror series. All three parts stayed in their Top 10 for 12 collective weeks. It was a magic time when the entire horror community was waiting each week with bated breath for the next installment to arrive. We’ll have to see if they can recapture the magic with this upcoming film.
