It wasn’t too long ago that we got rumors and reports that Ready Or Not 2 was in development. Director Adam Robitel is at the helm for the sequel to the 2019 horror hit. In addition to him, Samara Weaving is also returning to star. Now, we’ve got the first update to that story straight from Radio Silence (Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin) from Entertainment Weekly.
“It’s getting figured out. That’s what we’ll say: Ready or Not 2 is getting figured out. What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute fucking banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it’s happening. I don’t think we knew after making [Ready or Not] that there would be so much story left to tell. We’re so proud of what that first movie is, we’re so proud of what the sequel is. We’re just really excited, and fingers crossed that it gets made.” Bettinelli-Olpin adds, “And with Searchlight and Samara, they’re not gonna let it down.”
The first film was a revelation and one of the best of 2019 that showed off just what Radio Silence and Samara Weaving were capable of for a larger audience. It followed Weaving’s character Grace facing off in a deadly game of hide and seek after her newly-christened in-laws, the wealthy Le Domas family, have to go through a devilish ritual on her wedding night. The first film ended with Grace triumphing, but there’s plenty of places this story could go following that film.
Here’s what we had to say about Ready Or Not when it came out.
If there’s one film that you need to see this year, it has to be Ready or Not. You’ll be pleasantly surprised and exhilarated when you get to the finale. Samara Weaving and the rest of the cast are perfect in their roles. I recommend the film wholeheartedly for anyone who likes the horror or dark comedy genres.
That’s all we know about the film for now, but we’ll make sure to update you as we get more news about Ready or Not 2.
