We saw Neve Campbell return for Scream VII a couple of weeks ago, and now it looks like her scream queen counterpart Courteney Cox is coming back as well. Variety was first with the news that Cox was in talks to join the film. She started her time in the series back in 1996 with the first film as Gale Weathers. She’s the only cast member to appear in every film in the Scream series.

Scream VII has been revamped following the departure of star Jenna Ortega, the firing of actor Melissa Barrera, and the exit of original director Christopher Landon. Spyglass Media has instead brought back Neve Campbell and hired series creator Kevin Williamson as director. Campbell previously sat out Scream VI due to a salary dispute, another black eye for Spyglass Media.

Here’s what Kevin Williamson had to say about the film and directing it.

“It’s been nearly 30 years since my very first script, ‘Scream,’ was directed by the legendary Wes Craven. I never would have predicted what it would become. Or that I would be directing the seventh installment of the franchise. I am overcome with gratitude and excitement, and I can’t wait to take this journey with Neve and the entire ‘Scream’ family as we bring back Sidney Prescott in the next chapter of the ‘Scream’ franchise. Thank you to all the ‘Scream’ fans. You are the gift that keeps giving.”

We’ll have to see if they’ll be bringing back any other actors from previous films in the series.
