Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online (often shortened to just Gun Gale Online or GGO) is a most unusual spinoff of SAO. Mostly because it completely changes the genre of the story. The original Sword Art Online by Reki Kawahara is basically a medieval fantasy adventure, while GGO by Keiichi Sigsawa is a military shooter. It’s that change in genre that not only produces a change in fandom but even a better story on top of that.

Gun Gale Online II: Details
Aniplex Channel recently posted a brand new trailer for Gun Gale Online II on YouTube. The “II” in the name alone should clue you in on the fact that this is that long-awaited second season to that military shooter anime. The fact that you hear the voice of Llenn (voiced by Tomori Kusunoki) is just a treat on top of the news. After all, it has been nearly 4 years since we last saw the finale of season 1. Fans (myself included) have been waiting for this from Studio 3Hz (Dimension W, Princess Principal, The Devil is a Part-Timer!!) for a long, long time.
Alas, according to that same trailer, we’ll have to wait just a bit longer for that second season. The trailer revealed that Gun Gale Online II will make its debut sometime in October 2024. Alas, we don’t know who will stream the anime once it makes its debut. We’ll just have to wait for that bit of news later. In the meantime though, you can watch the first season on Crunchyroll.
