One of the stars of Barbie is heading to Shadyside. Ariana Greenblatt has joined the cast of Fear Street: Prom Queen. The news came from our friends at One Take News. She was not in the announcement of the cast yesterday, but she was present for the shoot in Toronto, which started yesterday.
She joins previously announced cast members India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston. Matt Palmer is directing and co-wrote the script with Donald McLeary. Producers for the film include Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kori Adelson for Chernin Entertainment, with executive producers including Yvonne Bernard, Joan Waricha, and Jane Stine. Caroline Pitofsky will be overseeing production for Chernin Entertainment.
Greenblatt is quickly becoming a prominent figure in Hollywood starring in Ahsoka, Barbie, 65, Avengers: Infinity War, and more. She’ll also be in the upcoming Borderlands directed by Eli Roth as Tiny Tina.
If you don’t know the plot of the 1992 book that the movie is based on, here’s a synopsis from Netflix.
Prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.
Fear Street: Prom Queen is currently fliming and does not have a release date yet.
The original trilogy for Fear Street: Part 1: 1994, Part 2: 1978, and Part 3: 1666 showed off just what Netflix was capable of when they put their full attention into a horror series. All three parts stayed in their Top 10 for 12 collective weeks. It was a magic time when the entire horror community was waiting each week with bated breath for the next installment to arrive. We’ll have to see if they can recapture the magic with this upcoming film.
So, what do you think of Ariana Greenblatt joining the cast of Fear Street: Prom Queen?
