The next Jurassic World film is likely to have a big star on its roster following the announcement that Scarlett Johansson is in active talks to headline the film.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures has made an offer to Scarlett Johansson and she is in active talks to accept. Reports indicate that the Black Widow actress met with director Gareth Edwards and producer Frank Marshall at least one time recently and it appears her schedule is free and clear to coincide with the film’s shooting date this summer. Universal Pictures is moving very quickly on the project, which has a July 2, 2025 release date.
Securing Johansson would be one of many new steps that the next Jurassic film would be taking should she take on the lead role. Story details are being kept under wraps but what is known is that the script is being written by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, and it will be a new story that won’t feature characters from the previous installments, which means Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be sitting this one out as well as original Jurassic Park stars, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.
Johansson is no stranger to huge franchises since she starred as Natasha Romanov/Black Widow in several MCU releases. She’s the kind of actress that also has no problem bouncing from box office tentpoles to more prestige fair such as Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit, both of which earned her Academy Award nominations.
So, what do you think of this news that Scarlett Johansson is in talks to star in Jurassic World?
