Madeline Brewer will appear in the fifth and final season of You on Netflix.
Brewer joins the cast as a new series regular character, Bronte. She’s described as an enigmatic and free-spirited playwright who comes to work for Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) at his bookstore. As the two connect over literature and loss, she stokes in him a nostalgia for his former self, causing him to question everything his life has become.
Details regarding the show’s final season are largely being kept under wraps. In season 4 of You, Joe moved to London and took on a new identity, while following Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) around Europe.
Brewer is best known for her role as Janine in Hulu’s adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale. She received an Emmy nomination for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the role in 2021. Last year, Brewer starred as Sally Bowles in the Olivier award winning production of Cabaret. Her other television credits include Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black and Shining Girls on Apple TV+.
Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti developed You for Netflix. Series executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo will co-showrun the upcoming final season.
