Patricia Highsmith’s notorious literary swindler will make his way to Netflix soon. The limited series Ripley premieres on the streaming platform next month.
Tom Ripley, a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York, is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son to return home. Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud and murder. The drama series is based on Highsmith’s bestselling Tom Ripley novels.

The series stars Andrew Scott plays the title character, Tom Ripley. Dakota Fanning plays Marge Sherwood and Johnny Flynn plays Dickie Greenleaf. The extended cast also includes Eliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi, Margherita Buy, and John Malkovich.
Ripley comes from Oscar-winning writer/director Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List, Gangs of New York, The Irishman). Zaillian executive produces the series along with Garrett Basch, Clayton Townsend, Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner, Sharon Levy, and Philipp Keel of Diogenes. Star Scott also produces the series.
The limited series premieres April 4 on Netflix.
