HBO’s The Last of Us announced four new cast members today. Danny Ramirez, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord will all join season 2.

The zombie apocalypse series adapts the popular video game developed by Naughty Dog. The story takes place twenty years after the collapse of modern civilization. Season 1 followed Joel (played by Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of a quarantine zone.

Season 2 will introduce a number of new characters familiar to those who play The Last of Us games. Per Variety, the four new cast members will appear as follows.

Ramirez will play Manny, a loyal soldier whose sunny outlook belies the pain of old wounds and a fear that he will fail his friends when they need him most. Ramirez’s credits include Top Gun: Maverick and Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.

Barer will play Mel, a young doctor whose commitment to saving lives is challenged by the realities of war and tribalism. Barer previously starred in Marvel’s Runaways and the feature How to Blow Up a Pipeline.

Gabrielle will play Nora, a military medic struggling to come to terms with the sins of her past. Gabrielle’s credits include You, The 100, and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Finally, Lord will play Owen, a gentle soul trapped in a warrior’s body, condemned to fight an enemy he refuses to hate. Lord previously appeared on Family Law, Heartland, and Riverdale.

In addition to returning stars Pascal and Ramsey, several other actors have been announced for season 2 of The Last of Us. Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby. Isabela Merced will play Dina, and Young Mazino will play Jesse. Intriguingly, Catherine O’Hara also revealed she’ll appear on the show, though her role remains undisclosed at this time.

Production on season 2 of The Last of Us is currently underway. However, we don’t have a release date for the new season just yet. So, check back to THS for more updates.
