Fans of the latest season of True Detective got some good news today. HBO has renewed their acclaimed original drama series TRUE DETECTIVE for a fifth season. The current season True Detective: Night Country, aired its final episode on February 18. Also, under a new multiyear overall deal with HBO, Issa López will create content exclusive to HBO and Max, including the next season of True Detective. Season 4, was the most-watched season of the anthology series, with 12.7 million views. At this time there is no word on how original series creator Nic Pizzolatto is taking the renewal. Pizzolatto made headlines over the last several weeks with his vocal criticisms of the latest season, the first without him at the helm. ABOUT TRUE DETECTIVE: NIGHT COUNTRY
When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice. The season stars Jodie Foster, Kali Reis, Finn Bennett, Fiona Shaw, with Christopher Eccleston, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and John Hawkes. Guest stars include Anna Lambe, Aka Niviâna, and Joel D. Montgrand.
