Fans of superhero films will know that the upcoming Marvel‘s Fantastic Four film isn’t the first attempt at a Fantastic Four film. On the contrary, it’s either the third or the fourth attempt, depending on whether you count the first two movies individually or together. Regardless though, the one thing I think we can all agree on is that they were all terrible, terrible films. Each somehow more and more worse than the last. I mean, seriously, the most recent attempt in 2015 received a record 9% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Even audiences only gave it 18%, which should tell you just how awful it was.

Still, maybe this upcoming attempt at a Fantastic Four film by Marvel Studios might turn out well. Or at least, it might turn out okay. At the very least, maybe it might be bearable? Especially if these latest casting rumors about Javier Bardem to play a certain world-devouring entity in that upcoming film bear fruit.

JoBlo.com has just reported some very interesting news about the cast of the upcoming Marvel’s Fantastic Four film. According to them: veteran entertainment news journalist Jeff Sneider has just confirmed that the recent rumors surrounding the involvement of Javier Bardem in that film are true. It seems this Spanish actor famed for his roles in No Country for Old Men (as Anton Chigurh) and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune (as Stilgar) will now be playing the one and only Galactus. Marvel fans will recognize him as the Devourer of Worlds, so this is a pretty big deal for Bardem. Oh, and for us too.

That’s not all, though. In the same JoBlo.com article: Sneider also states that Marvel hasn’t found their Silver Surfer yet. Rumors previously mentioned that Anya Taylor-Joy would play a female version of the Silver Surfer, but Sneider doesn’t confirm that. Sneider also mentions that Doctor Doom would appear in Fantastic Four, but doesn’t mention who will play him and also mentions that Doom’s appearance will likely take place at the end of the film in one of those classic post-credits preview for the next film.

And that’s it for the rumor mill for now. Tune back in to THS later to find out more about Marvel’s Fantastic Four later when we do. Or you can wait for the film to make its theatrical debut on July 25, 2025 and see for yourself Javier Bardem does a good job as Galactus for yourself.
