At first glance, Disney’s Goosebumps doesn’t look like your typical Disney+ series. After all, it is a supernatural horror series, which is not what you would expect Disney to want. And yet, those of you who were kids in the ’90s will remember that this horror series is based off of the children’s horror books of the same name by R. L. Stine. Those who read them will recall that no death or even serious harm comes to the kids in the books. Thus, it is actually perfect Disney fare, and perfect for Disney+ as a revival of the 1995 TV series. Also thus, you can perfectly understand why Disney would greenlight this series for a second season.
Goosebumps Season 2: Details
At the 2024 Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, California, Disney was proud to announce that their 2023 revival of Goosebumps will be getting a season 2. This upcoming latest season will be 8 episodes long, and will feature “a brand-new story, setting and cast based upon R.L Stine’s worldwide bestselling Scholastic book series”. Nicholas Stoller (The Muppets) and Rob Letterman (Pokémon: Detective Pikachu) will continue to develop season 2 and serve as executive producers alongside showrunner Hilary Winston (Community), Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious franchise), Scholastic Entertainment’s Iole Lucchese (Clifford the Big Red Dog), Pavun Shetty (The Boys), Conor Welch (Platonic), Scholastic Entertainment’s Caitlin Friedman (Stillwater) and Erin O’Malley (New Girl).
As for what this second season of Goosebumps is about? Well, there’s not much, but Disney does have the closest thing we have to a synopsis about it. You can read that below:
In the upcoming season, teenage siblings discover a threat within their home, setting off a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the story of five teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.
Alas, we don’t have a streaming debut date for Goosebumps season 2. Disney only just greenlit it, after all. We’ll just have to wait for Disney to give us that info later. Tune back in to THS to find out more about Goosebumps and other Disney+ series when we do.
In the meantime, you can watch Goosebumps season 1 on Disney+.
