If you still need to watch all of this year’s Best Picture nominees ahead of the Oscars, good news: Poor Things will get a digital release just in time. The feature will officially release for rent and purchase on digital platforms February 27.
Poor Things tells the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.
The film comes from Searchlight Pictures and acclaimed director Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite, The Lobster). It’s proved to be one of the biggest awards contenders from the recent film season. After winning the Golden Lion prize at its Venice Film Festival debut, the feature went on to rake in a number of award nominations. These accolades include 11 Academy Award nominations, as well as 11 BAFTA Award nominations.
Following the digital release, Poor Things will also get a physical release on Blu-ray and DVD starting March 12. Check out bonus features below.
