Crunchyroll is one of the biggest anime streaming platforms in the world for many reasons. One of those reasons is their willingness to branch out onto as many platforms as humanly possible. This was how we got things like the Crunchyroll apps for mobile phones and video game consoles, after all. Even if said apps are a bit…janky at times, that is. At the very least, they still fulfill their purpose of bringing anime to the masses. I suppose that’s why Smart TVs will now be playing more anime. Specifically Samsung ones.
Crunchyroll x Samsung Smart TVs: Details
Crunchyroll is proud to announce a new partnership with Samsung Electronics to bring their anime to Samsung Smart TV users around the world. How so, you might ask? Well, through the most direct method possible: making a version of their app specifically for Samsung Smart TVs. This would bring Crunchyroll’s entire library to those Smart TVs, including “46,000 episodes and movies, 3,300 Japanese music videos and concert specials, and the latest trending shows available on Crunchyroll on-demand”. With plenty of options for audio and subtitles too, including “English, Spanish (Latin America and Spain/Castilian), Portuguese, French, German, Arabic, Italian, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil”.
In fact, Kaliel Roberts, Chief Product Officer at Crunchyroll, has some words to say about this collaboration. You can check them out below:
Anime is one of the fastest-growing entertainment mediums worldwide. We’re thrilled to enhance access to Crunchyroll for Samsung’s Smart TV users. Samsung is providing a seamless experience for both dedicated anime fans and the anime-curious, allowing them to easily sign up and access their favorite anime directly on their TV screens.
Even better: this Smart TV version of the Crunchyroll app is available starting today. If you own a Samsung Smart TV (specifically, versions ranging from 2017-2023), then you can download the app from the Samsung Smart TV app store.
Tune back in to THS to find out more anime news when we hear about them.
