Detective Conan (known as Case Closed in NA) may be a little-known anime series in NA, but that’s not the case outside our region. Especially in its home nation of Japan. There, Conan Edogawa is practically a household name. So much so that this anime adaptation of the mystery spy thriller manga of the same name by Gosho Aoyama has produced not 1, not 2, but 26 anime films.

Heck, those anime films are practically its own spinoff franchise by now due to the sheer number of them, and how much money they’re making. For example, the 26th anime film, Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine, earned ¥13.83 billion at the Japanese box office. At the current exchange rate as of this writing, that works out to $94.14 million USD. No matter how you look at it, that’s a lot of moolah. Especially when you remember that it hasn’t even had a release outside Japan yet.

Thus, you can now understand why the 27th anime film in the franchise, Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Signpost, is getting so much hype. Especially what with them releasing a new main visual for it and all.

The official Twitter account for the Detective Conan anime films has just posted a Tweet revealing the main visual for Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Signpost. Yeah, that one above? That’s it. Fans won’t just recognize the main cast of the anime. They will also notice a certain phantom thief smirking in the top left side of the visual. Yes, this is a Kaito Kid film, who will almost certainly be looking to overshadow Conan. And likely succeeding to boot.

Alas though, there are no preview screenings available. Why? Well, the official website for Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Signpost gives us a clue about that. It seems that when someone went to check on the invitations to the preview screenings, they found an empty warehouse and a certain calling card left within.

Kaito Kid, you’ve done it now.

Yes, it appears Kaito Kid has invaded the real world and stolen all the invitations! What a shock! But don’t worry. The main visual does reveal that Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Signpost will still be making its roadshow debut on April 12, 2024. Alas though, this roadshow will be in Japan only. Hopefully, they will have a NA theatrical release too at some point in the future.

Tune back in to THS to find out more about Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Signpost (or Case Closed, depending on which you prefer) when we do.
