Wishing for more Disney animation content? Well, today your dream comes true. Disney just revealed a behind-the-scenes look at a special deleted scene from Wish.
Described as “one of the hardest things for us to cut,” the never-before-seen moment is actually a full deleted song. It’s sung by Victor Garber, who plays Asha’s grandfather Saba Sabino. The song focuses on what it’s like to have a wish returned to someone.
You can learn more about the background of this particular song and listen to Garber’s performance in the clip below.
Wish takes place in the magical kingdom of Rosas. There, Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful a cosmic force answers: a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.
The feature released in November 2023 to celebrate 100 years of Disney Animation. The voice cast includes Ariana DeBose, Chris Pine, and Alan Tudyk, as well as Angelique Cabral, Victor Garber, Harvey Guillén, and more.
Wish comes from Oscar-winning Frozen director Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon). The film features original songs by Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice, plus a score by composer Dave Metzger.
The film is now available on VOD. It will soon also release on DVD and Blu-ray on March 12. We don’t have a streaming date for the movie yet, but eventually Wish should hit Disney+ as well. Until then, check back to THS for more updates.
