One of the greatest movies of all time and arguably the best feel-good movie of all time is getting the remake treatment. We now have our first official poster along with a release date for Road House on Prime Video.
You can see the official poster below, which shows Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton in the aftermath of a crazy bar fight. Dalton was played by Patrick Swayze in the original film.
Road House References
The poster contains a couple of references to the new location Road House is set in. That being Florida, and the original took place in the Midwest.
Moreover, eagle-eyed fans such as myself will also spot a bunch of cool references to the original Road House. First, you can spot ‘Buick’ etched into the bar on the poster; which is a reference to a creative edit made by the Double Deuce owner in the original film. Furthermore, you can also spot a monster truck on the TV, which is a reference to an infamous scene from the original. There’s also a glass on the counter sporting the Double Deuce logo on it, a reference to the name of the bar from the original film. Finally, there’s a reference to a line from the original film regarding Dalton’s three simple rules. Presumably this quote will find itself in some form in the new film.
The synopsis of the movie reads:
In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems.
Those who are anxious to jump back into the world of Road House won’t have to wait long. Road House will release on March 21st on Prime Video.
Road House is directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, American Made, The Bourne Identity). In addition to Gyllenhaal, it also stars Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, Conor McGregor, Lukas Gage, Arturo Castro, B.K. Cannon, Beau Knapp, Darren Barnet, Dominique Columbus, Bob Menery, Catfish Jean, Kevin Carroll, Travis Van Winkle, and Hannah Lanier.
