DC is in the full swing of casting for their upcoming DC Studios reboot of their entire film universe, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Supergirl is down to two actresses. It was reported before that multiple actresses were screen-testing for the role, but now, after tests yesterday, the field has narrowed down. Milly Alcock and Meg Donnelly are the two remaining choices for the role. Alcock comes from a star-making performance in HBO’s House of the Dragon as Rhaenyra Targaryen. While Donnelly comes from the family-friendly confines of Disney and their Zombies series.
Both Peter Safran and James Gunn were present for the screen tests. Supergirl is a key character in the upcoming DC Studios slate. Warner Bros. Discovery hired Gunn and Safran to take the reins over their film and TV slate in late 2022. The character is set to appear in the first film in the saga, Superman: Legacy. She’ll also get a film of her own in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The movie is based on the Tom King run of comics from 2021 to 2022 that sought to redefine the character as something more than just a female version of Superman.
“Superman is a guy sent to Earth and raised by loving parents, where Supergirl in this story, she is a character raised on a chunk of Krypton, She watched everybody around her perish in some terrible way, so she’s a much more jaded character.”

Ana Noguiera is writing the screenplay for the film, but it’s still without a director. Superman will be portrayed by David Corenswet alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman film.
This is a developing story, we’ll keep you updated as we get more news.
