Netflix had a major success story on their hands when they premiered Masters of the Universe: Revelation on July 23, 2021. This Netflix animated sequel to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1983-1985) earned critical acclaim. On Rotten Tomatoes alone, Part 1 earned 94% from 48 critical reviews, while Part 2 earned 92% over 12 reviews. Alas, both parts appear to be victims of review bombing. Part 1 got 38% over 5000+ ratings, while Part 2 got 37% over 1000+ of the same.

Despite the massive review bombing both parts got from audiences, it doesn’t change the fact that it still earned Netflix quite a bit of money and subscribers. Certainly, the controversy only benefited Netflix. It certainly explains why Netflix is making a sequel in the form of the upcoming Masters of the Universe: Revolution. Don’t believe me? Then why not check the official trailer from Netflix below, and see if this season is even more polarizing than the previous for yourself?

Masters of the Universe: Revolution ~ Details

Why does the thumb make this season look like a cheesy romance series?

Netflix is proud to announce Masters of the Universe: Revolution via that YouTube trailer above. This is the direct sequel to both parts of Masters of the Universe: Revelation, also from Netflix. This new season will apparently feature a clash between magic and technology, as exemplified by Skeletor somehow turning into a cyborg version of himself. You can find out more in the official synopsis from Netflix below:

It’s technology versus magic when He-Man and the heroic warriors face the forces of Skeletor and something more in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVOLUTION – the new epic chapter in the battle for Castle Grayskull! The newly mechanized Skeletor, armed with the might of Motherboard, attacks the heart of Eternia while Prince Adam grapples with a new responsibility and what that means for him as He-Man! Adam is forced to choose between the scepter or the sword, and a life as either the King or the Champion! Meanwhile, the new Sorceress Teela searches for the secret of Snake Magic in the mists of Darksmoke to rebuild a magic realm and help He-Man hold off the greatest threat Eternia has ever faced: the return of the despot Hordak, the ruthless leader of the Horde Empire!

In addition, Netflix also announces that John de Lancie is joining the cast of Masters of the Universe: Revolution. Apparently, he will voice the role of Granamyr. Who is that, Netflix doesn’t say. All we know is that this series will also include the voices of Diedrich Bader, Melissa Benoist, Liam Cunningham, Keith David, Mark Hamill, Lena Headey, Griffin Newman, William Shatner, Tiffany Smith, Tony Todd, and Chris Wood.

When and Where to Watch

Masters Of The Universe: Revolution key visual.
I see that they’re using the ’80’s as inspiration for this key visual.

Masters of the Universe: Revolution will premiere on January 25, 2024. As you might guess, you can watch it only on Netflix. Thus, you will need a paid subscription to watch it.
